Badenoch & Strathspey Community ConnXions vision is to improve the lives and wellbeing of people in our community enabling them to remain independent for longer.
What does this mean for you and your community?
It means that we will still be providing our key services as we always have:
car scheme
accessible bus routes
assisted shopping
green health at the allotment
befriending service
social activities including group walks, music afternoons and other outings
By having our vision written down means you can hold us accountable, and we have a clear direction of whom we support and which potential grants to apply for to keep our services available.
The new name and vision will also help us recover from the pandemic and rebuild our services and, serve our clients and community even better than before. What began and was planned as a fairly simple exercise became a much deeper reflection and investigation into our service and organisation as a whole. We looked at who we were, who we are and who we want to be in the future and this work culminated in a new name, a new vision and new 5 year business plan. We have rebranded as Badenoch and Strathspey Community ConnXions and you can read our business plan here.
For us it was the right thing to do changing our name to Badenoch & Strathspey Community ConnXions. As things slowed down during the pandemic and we had to look at new ways to reach our clients and volunteers we consulted with staff, consulted with experts and did research in our community. All these discussions pointed to one fact – although transport will always be the main thing we do, our service goes way beyond taking people from A to B, what we provide is a service that allows people to remain connected with services and their community.
We are also here to provide volunteering opportunities within our community and allow volunteers to connect with each other and with other members of their community.
Volunteers are involved in all aspects of the organisation from driving our buses, befriending and calling those in the community, to helping on the allotment, providing assisted shopping weekly to being on our board and advising the charity. Plus hosting our music afternoons and group walks without our volunteers Badenoch & Strathspey Community ConnXions would not be able to connect with so many in our community and beat social isolation.
